Dr. Joseph Oyer, MC, FACS

Joseph Oyer, MD, FACS

Dr. Oyer is originally from the Midwest, growing up in both Ohio and Michigan.  He matriculated to Michigan State University for both college and medical school.  He then travelled east where he completed an internship in General Surgery at Tuft’s affiliate St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and residency at Harvard’s affiliate Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.  In 1979 Dr. Oyer began evaluating job offers from all over the country, finally deciding on Worcester.  When he made the decision to come to Worcester, one of his attending physicians who had offered him a job in Boston looked at him incredulously and said, “Worcester!  You might as well move to Syracuse!”  For over three decades Dr. Oyer has practiced general otolaryngology in Central Massachusetts, caring for children and adults of all ages.  He has never looked back nor regretted the decision to come to Worcester in 1979.  He proudly says, “With the support of my wonderful patients and referring physicians as well as other medical professions, it has been and continues to be a pleasure and a privilege to serve here in this great city.”  He has established himself as a giant in the field of otolaryngology and will one day leave behind a legacy of high-quality, compassionate, patient centered care.
